Description

An educated or graduate-level Research and Development Chemist is needed to join our team at Performance Fluids based in Nelson.

We are a high-growth company that designs, develops and markets high-performance industrial lubricants and process aids.

You will either be educated to graduate level, or have high scoring A levels. You will also have enthusiasm for chemistry. After sufficient training, you will manage the R & D activities of the business.

The post holder will report to the Managing Director.

About the Role

As over 85% of our sales are export-related, it is envisaged that R & D Chemist will support the management team with our international business, which will entail regular international travel.

As this role will require significant customer and supplier contact, it is important that the post holder has good interpersonal skills and commercial acumen as well as being able to understand and explain chemical concepts to non-chemists.

Key Responsibilities:

• Creating and being responsible for an onsite laboratory area
• Managing the R & D projects of the business
• Ensuring the Company is REACH compliant
• Designing new market driven products based on requests from the sales team
• Liaising with external laboratories that provide analytical testing
• Development of global production specifications to be used by our licensees around the world
• Ensuring that products manufactured globally adhere to these specifications through analytical testing and electronic monitoring of trends
• Provide technical support to our sales team
