Midgard is the main contracting division of the +£600m turnover JRL Group and utilises all the company's in-house resources and facilities to provide clients with a bespoke construction service.

We have gone back to the time when contractors carried out work themselves with a dedicated, reliable workforce and their own fleet of plant and equipment.

Due to continued growth we are seeking to recruit a Senior Environmental Advisor to join our team.


Travel around sites is required.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Produce project specific documents at project startup
  • Review and update project specific documents as and when programme of works requires
  • Set up project on SmartWaste
  • Ensure all plant on site is compliant and registered on the NRMM portal (London projects)
  • Review SHE6E weekly inspections carried out by Project Manager
  • Carry out monthly environmental inspections (SHE8Es) for all Midgard and JRL project sites and factories.
  • Predominantly based on site to review general environmental performance and discuss key issues with the project management team.
  • Issue monthly environmental report including eKPIs for client & BREEAM reports
  • Deliver training to staff at all levels on environmental issues and responsibilities.
  • Internal audits for upkeep of the group ISO14001 certification and prepare and assist with BSI audits when scheduled
  • Assist in implementing the EMS across all group companies, working towards all companies being certified
  • Assist with environmental aspect of CCS inspections provide siterelevant information, innovations and attend CCS presentations.
  • Reviewing and keep up to date on all environmental legislation, ensuring group compliance. Compile evidence if required eg. packaging legislation
  • Liaise with buying department and key suppliers to work towards reduction in packaging on site eg. implementation of takeback schemes
  • Environmental incident investigations, if required
  • Develop and report against annual environmental targets as part of the JRL Group Sustainability agenda.
  • Assist sustainability team in driving initiatives and innovations to improve the group's environmental impact.
