Description

The HOE will play a key role in the Estates and Facilities Division with responsibility for managing estate maintenance, statutory compliance, fire safety planned maintenance and supporting the management of energy, estates CAFM, backlog maintenance and minor works.

The post holder has managerial, professional, and technical responsibility for the asset stewardship of the estate on behalf of the Trust.

The HOE provides a single point of contact on day-to-day estate operations matters in these areas of responsibility.

The post holder will be responsible for the operational management of highly complex buildings and engineering services that are critical to patient care and the management of the Trusts estate.


The post holder will provide highly specialist and professional estates expertise to directors, clinicians, senior managers and other staff throughout the Trust.

At a corporate level the post holder will assist the Deputy Director of Estates and Facilities to contribute to the formulation and delivery of strategic and operational objectives whilst ensuring the provision of a comprehensive and efficient estates service working on behalf of patients, visitors and staff.

Post holder also has an overall responsibility for ensuring that building and engineering maintenance, including contract work, is carried out to appropriate standards and specifications and provides expert specialist and professional building and engineering expertise to other estates staff, directors, senior management of the organisation; may advise external agencies whilst also undertakes Authorised Person responsibilities in relation to specified system / services.

The HOE will deputise for the DDEF as directed to provide support / cover for managing Medical Equipment and Management (MEMS), Property Management, Capital Planning & Project Delivery and all elements of Soft FM services (Catering, Cleanliness, Portering, Waste and Linen Services).


The HOE will be expected to embrace the changes in in the delivery of health care and to identify and implement innovative solutions that support the Trusts objectives.

The post holder is required to deputise for the Deputy Director of Estates when required with regard to all matters concerning the Estate and Facilities Services.

The post holder may be required to participate in a Senior Leadership Team on call service.
