The main purpose of the role:
As our Pastoral Lead, you will deliver high a quality level of care and support to our pupils by leading on attendance, behavioural, pastoral and welfare issues.
In addition to this, you will also be the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the school, in line with the regulatory and statutory obligations that this role requires.
Key Duties:
- To be friendly, helpful and welcoming to parents and others visiting or making contact with the school.
- To provide a good role model for students.
- To develop a positive relationship with pupils, which is professional, firm, fair, caring and friendly.
- To promote positive behaviour by ensuring pupils are rewarded, undertaking investigations into reported misbehaviour/incidents and ensuring that any sanctions that are implement sanctions are fair and in line with school policy
- Ensure that where required pupils have positive behaviour plans in place linked for their individual needs and that these are understood and implemented by all relevant staff.
- Promote an antibullying culture, contributing to the recording, investigation and monitoring of bullying if it should occur.
- To develop positive relationships with parents, liaising with parents regarding disciplinary/health/welfare issues
- To deliver 1:1 and small groups sessions as part of the interdependence curriculum, supporting pupils to develop key skills such independence, resilience and team working
- To support the Leadership Team in coordinating and reporting on additional support for pupils
Responsibilities:
Knowledge, Experience and behaviours:
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Experience in working with children with SEMH and SEND
- A proven track record of effective target setting, monitoring progress and writing reports in relation to young people and presenting these to Senior Leaders and external partner agencies
- Proven record of communicating effectively with parents
- Ability to work under pressure, handle a variety of situations and selfmanage time
- Ability to identify and deescalate emotional and behavioural issues
- Good IT skills
- Knowledge and personal experience of special needs, disabilities, behaviour management and associated issues
