We have a unique opportunity within the Nationwide Business Savings Risk Team for a talented and ambitious individual to join our mission to protect the Society against Economic Crime.

As a FC Controls Consultant your primary role will be to execute Enhanced Due Diligence for our existing relationships on a periodic basis, and supporting our onboarding team with Enhanced Due Diligence.


The role will also involve liaising with key stakeholders across the Society, Screening and Transaction Monitoring alert management activities, and supporting with annual regulatory reporting and risk assessments.

Business Savings is an end-to-end business areas, covering everything from Operations, Risk, Change and Product Development. We currently manage c7,500 relationships, with deposits totalling £3.8bn. This opportunity is to expand our existing EDD function in line with business growth.

What you'll be doing:


  • Support the onboarding team with conducting effective EDD for potential customers, providing guidance, and ensuring that all requirements have been met.
  • Following completion of the EDD for new and existing customers, you will make outcome recommendations to the Accountable Executive, in order to obtain approval.
  • Conduct investigations in response to Screening and Transaction Monitoring alerts.
  • Support with completing annual FCA reporting and risk assessments.
  • Identify opportunities to continuously improve and support operational business readiness and change activities to ensure the business is set up for success, managing customer risk in line with internal policies and regulation.

About you:


  • Proven strong recent AML experience (in Enhanced Due Diligence) in a business banking environment, with expertise in conducting CDD and EDD for a range of entity types.
  • Existing ICA qualification (or equivalent)
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders of all levels
  • Excellent investigation, attention to detail and decisionmaking skills with the ability to work in a pressurised environment
  • Strong record keeping and writing ability as well as good experience producing case reports to present findings and decisions.
  • Ability to share best practice with colleagues.
  • Ability to influence at Senior level and experience in stakeholder management ensuring effective working relationship
