The Role of a Business Analyst

We are ideally looking for an adaptable individual who may also be able to support wider project activities as required, in particular the planning and development of programme communications and engagement approaches.

The Business Analyst plays a leading role in formulating, directing, and supporting delivery of IT initiatives
undertaken on behalf of the Generation business unit.

They work in partnership with senior managers and IT colleagues, deploying expert business analysis skill and broad business knowledge to enable solutions that deliver required business outcomes which meetexpectations of benefits realisation/ risk mitigation.

They, along with the Project Managers, are instrumental in shaping the business approach and have responsibility for leading the Business Analysis work stream.

They remain engaged throughout the projectlifecycle to manage requirements, validate the solution, and prepare the business for implementing and embedding the solution.

Principal Accountabilities
Collaborate with Business Managers, Solution Architect and Project manager to develop a variety of
viable solutions to support differing expenditure, benefit capture and risk appetite. Identify the optimal
solution options and the structure by which they will be delivered.
Develop the initial project concept, elaborating the primary business objectives, clarifying the scope and
impacts of the proposed change, estimating project costs and identifying the initial risks, issues,
assumptions and dependencies that affect the successful outcome of the project.
Collaborate with senior management and other key stakeholders to capture, evaluate and prioritise
business requirements, ensuring that these are communicated and documented in a meaningful way
which promotes insight and informed decision-making. Own and manage the requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

Collaborate with key stakeholders to assess the business impact of proposed changes, including alterations to working conditions and practices, business processes, internal and external standards and effects on people and behaviors.

Orchestrate the construction of robust business cases for complex business change initiatives.

Challenge suggested benefits, translate intangible benefits into tangible benefits and identify additional benefits to maximise extracted value of the proposed change.

Develop and present proposal material to key stakeholders and the project team, including strategic partners and third-party suppliers.

Undertake a leading role in the RFI and ITT activities associated third party acquisition of products and services, including the development of evaluation score card and appraisal of provided submissions.

Structure, plan and manage the business analysis work stream, ensuring adoption of best practice standards and quality assuring the developed analysis products (which may include process and people change elements)

Review solution designs, test strategy and business procedures to ensure consistency with the requirements and delivery of the identified benefits.

Support business acceptance of developed solutions, including process and system walk through and business acceptance testing.

Provide consultation to the design of the cut over and implementation activities, including data migrations, training, and business reorganisation activities.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

We're looking for individuals who have experience of working in an multi project background with a BA Diploma or similar qualification, Waterfall methodologies, Office 365, Communication capability to translate the technical into plain language.

Strong interpersonalskills are needed for this role as you will be working across multiple projects with multiple stakeholders. Ideally, we would like someone who has worked in a regulated environment and has governance experience.
