A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the administration team at the Child Development Centre.

Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality are essential to the role.

The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users.

The role covers a range of administrative duties including arranging clinics, booking appointments, preparing and maintaining patient records, liaising with other teams and departments and covering reception.


The Child Development and Neurodisability Service (Community Paediatrics) is based at the Child Development Centre (CDC) in Woodlands Centre, Hillingdon Hospital site.


Our Community Paediatrician Team works with children aged 0-19 who have complex needs, disabilities or long-term conditions, enabling them to achieve their maximum potential.


  • To deal with frequent telephone and facetoface enquiries in a helpful and courteous manner, using discretion and initiative and in line with confidentiality and data protection policies.
  • Ensure that messages taken are contemporaneous, concise, prioritized and delivered to the recipient in a timely manner.
  • To assist with the preparation of the clinic diary for Community Paediatricians.
  • Process new referrals in accordance with service protocol.
  • Book clinics and appointments and manage cancellations or amendments in a timely manner.
  • To liaise with parents to schedule and book appointments and send out confirmation letters and text messages.
  • Manage waiting lists for new and followup appointments ensuring that targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met.
  • To act appropriately for any clinic cancellations and DNAs, rebooking patients where necessary.
