The City of York Council Commercial Waste Team is seeking to appoint a Commercial Waste Officer.

The postholder will be expected to provide a high quality, customer-focused advice service for commercial waste, ensuring that all enquiries are dealt with in a professional and efficient manner.

A key responsibility of the role is the financial management of new and existing contracts; as well as supporting the growth of the commercial waste business.

The postholder will interact directly with customers and may be required to undertake some bag deliveries; therefore, a driving licence is advantageous.

In addition to this, you will interact daily with the frontline teams. Advising them on any contract changes and adapting and responding to operational challenges.

Part of the role requires the postholder to deputise for the Commercial Waste Supervisor to cover holidays and sickness. A wider network of support within the team will help faciliate this.

The commercial waste business is currently undergoing a digital transformation, meaning a greater reliance on web based and Incab technology.

Therefore this role will suit somebody who is confident and proficient in using a variety of IT systems.

Previous experience in Waste management is welcomed but not essential. Having the right skill set and willingness to learn is key. Experience of working with front line teams would be advantageous.
