We have partnered up with one of the markets leading waste companies to work on finding there next transport planner.


The purpose of this role is to plan, organise and assist in Managing the daily work of the collection drivers and associated system data input.

To provide other general support to the Service Delivery Manager as required on a day to day basis.

To ensure all tasks are completed in line with the companies Health and Safety Policy.

Purpose of the role:

  • To ensure all work is carried out maintaining high levels of customer service.
  • To ensure high levels of Health and Safety are observed.
  • Ensure all jobs undertaken are done so in a profitable manner.
  • To support and assist all drivers in carrying out their duties in a productive manner.
  • To ensure all data input is accurate and completed in a timely manner.

Main Tasks and Activities:

  • Ensure the safety and welfare of all personnel within your area of responsibility.
  • To interpret and enforce as far as is reasonably practicable legislation relating to the road traffic acts.
  • To be responsible for the day to day activities of the Drivers.
  • Prioritising work schedules to maximise efficient work.
  • Ensure vehicle defecting procedures are adhered to in accordance with our operator's licence and audit requirements.
  • Under the auspices of the Depot Manager ensure the following; Enforce standards of discipline and control, conduct annual driver appraisals, assist with induction of new drivers.
  • Control (optimisation) of overtime including checking start times and levels of inactivity on the tracker.
  • Ensure all customer enquiries are responded to quickly and positively.
  • Proactively look into missed collections and resolve any issues.
  • Respond to and log on Helpdesk any customer complaints, and resolve in a timely manner.
  • Conduct thorough route de brief for each route on a daily basis, ensuring every ticket is accounted for and driver records accurate and detailed information.
  • To carry out investigation interviews for any potential disciplinary hearings.
  • Carry out site surveys, in particular when accidents or near misses have occurred.
  • Ensure drivers carry out their pre and post shift vehicle checks.
  • Ensure a thorough debrief is conducted for every route on a daily basis and ensure any issues noted on the de brief form are actioned / resolved.
  • Carry out monthly management checks, utilising the available Power Bi reports.
  • Ensure that all weighing vehicles are weighing accurately and that weights are recorded on AMCS.
  • Ensure the Depot Customer Hotlist is kept upto date and any service issues relating to these customers are communicated to them in a timely manner.
  • Any other reasonable task as may be required from time to time.

Skills and Experience:

  • Good leadership skills

  • Knowledge of the waste industry
  • Excellent working Knowledge of Tachograph legislation

Salary - £25,000 - £30,000 depending on experience.
