Position Overview:

A delivery driver plays a crucial role in ensuring timely and accurate delivery of our furniture to our customers.

This position involves safely operating a delivery vehicle, managing inventory, and providing excellent customer service. Delivery drivers are essential for maintaining the smooth functioning of our supply chains and meeting customer expectations.


Key Responsibilities:


Vehicle Operation:
Safely operate a delivery vehicle, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies. Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance to ensure proper functioning.


Route Planning:
Efficiently plan delivery routes to minimize travel time and maximize delivery efficiency. Utilize GPS systems and navigation tools to find the best routes and avoid delays.


Loading and Unloading:

Load and unload goods onto the delivery vehicle, ensuring proper handling and securing of items to prevent damage during transit.

Verify inventory before departure and upon arrival.


Occasional Assembly :
Some assembly of furniture may be required in customers' homes.


Timely Deliveries:
Execute deliveries according to assigned schedules, ensuring punctuality and meeting delivery deadlines. Communicate with dispatch or customers to provide real-time updates on delivery status.


Customer Service:
Interact with customers in a courteous and professional manner. Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, concerns, and special requests. Obtain signatures or confirmations upon delivery.


Documentation:
Maintain accurate delivery records, including receipts, invoices, and delivery logs. Submit required paperwork to supervisors or management as necessary.


Inventory Management:
Keep track of inventory levels on the delivery vehicle and report any discrepancies. Assist with inventory replenishment or stock rotation as needed.


Safety Compliance:
Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure the well-being of yourself, fellow employees, and the public. Adhere to all traffic regulations and company safety policies.


Communication:
Maintain effective communication with dispatch, supervisors, and colleagues to ensure smooth coordination of deliveries. Report any issues, delays, or incidents promptly.


Problem Solving:
Address unforeseen challenges such as traffic congestion, inclement weather, or delivery obstacles in a calm and resourceful manner.
Seek assistance when needed.


Warehouse:
There will be days when working in the warehouse will also be required.


Qualifications and Requirements:


  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Prior experience as a delivery driver
  • Strong familiarity with local roads, routes, and traffic patterns.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Physical stamina to lift and move packages of varying sizes and weights.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in handling inventory and paperwork.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Customerfocused attitude and a commitment to providing exceptional service.

Working Conditions:
Delivery drivers spend a significant portion of their workday on the road, operating a delivery vehicle. They may encounter various weather conditions and traffic situations. Physical exertion is required for loading and unloading furniture. Flexible work hours, including weekends and holidays, may be necessary to meet delivery demands. Drive times may vary between 8am and 8pm

From £10.71 per hour
