Job Summary:


We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN (Special Educational Needs) College Student Support Worker to join our team.


  • As a support worker, you will play a vital role in providing assistance and guidance to students with special educational needs within our college setting.
  • Your primary responsibility will be to support students in their academic pursuits and ensure their overall wellbeing.

Responsibilities:

Provide one-on-one support to students with special educational needs, helping them navigate their college experience successfully.

  • Assist SEN students in understanding and completing coursework, assignments, and projects, adapting teaching methods as necessary to suit their individual learning styles.
  • Support SEN students in developing essential life skills, such as time management, organization, and effective study techniques.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, counselors, and other professionals to create and implement personalized learning plans for students with special needs.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment, promoting independence and confidence among students.
  • Monitor students' progress and provide regular feedback to teachers and parents/guardians.
  • Respond promptly to any behavioral or emotional concerns of students, implementing appropriate strategies for managing challenging situations.

Requirements:


  • Enhanced Child & Adult DBS on Update Service or willing to apply.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with special educational needs, preferably in a college or educational setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of various learning disabilities, developmental disorders, and mental health conditions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to establish rapport and build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
  • Strong organizational and timemanagement skills to effectively support multiple students.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting individuals with special educational needs.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic and changing environment.
