Maintenance Post: 18 Hours per week


Job Summary - To:

  • Comply with relevant legislation, regulations (including planning and building), registration requirements, corporate policy, procedure, standards including confidentiality, and local protocol, including attendance at training provided by the company.
  • Provide a comprehensive maintenance, repair and gardening and cleaning service as directed.
  • Act as a 'driver' when appropriate as required. (You will be paid mileage)
  • In absence of the Manager, take responsibility and work on your own initiative, dealing with issues as they occur in a professional manner.

Key Duties - To:

  • Undertake daytoday maintenance and planned remedial works to keep the services in working order, keeping of records and routine checks as directed.
  • Provide oncall cover including telephone support or attendance as needed to the nursing home as required or in the event of an emergency involving equipment or services.
  • As part of the maintenance and as required on an individual basis, lead in the planning and carrying out minor and major works, ensuring head of department coordination to minimise disruption and inconvenience to service users, staff and maintaining appropriate levels of security.
  • To continually ensure that work areas are clean and comply with Health & safety regulations and security protocols.
  • To ensure exterior and interior audits are completed when required, continually checking that areas are clean, tidy and litter free. If areas are not to standard ensuring that immediate action is taken personally.
  • To liaise with, and support external contractors working on site.
  • Source resources with agreed contractors to provide services as required and agreed by Manager ensuring Value for Money in Cost/Quality relation.
  • To ensure regular checks are completed such as: Fire, Water, Security, Safety equipment as directed recording results in agreed formats/files.
  • Be initially responsible for building signage ensuring it is correct and readable through the nursing home and grounds, taking immediate action when required.
  • To ensure paths and access areas are free of refuse, snow and ice as soon as practicable after arrival.
  • To ensure windows are cleaned as directed either by contractor liaison or use of provided equipment.
  • To at all times ensure a secure perimeter via challenging intruders and locking doors/windows.
  • To cleanse hands when entering and exiting care areas.
  • To ensure PAT testing is done and electrical appliances are functional and fit for use.
  • To undertake Fire Marshall Role as directed after relevant training.
  • Maintain service user and organisational activity confidentiality at all times.
  • To at all times be respectful and understanding of service user needs and challenges.
  • To dispose of regular waste in a timely manner ensuring contractors comply with pick up arrangements.
  • To at all times be aware of need for sustainability of service.
  • Undertake any reasonable request.

£10.00-£10.50 per hour
