The New Statesman is looking for a multi-skilled podcast producer to create industry-leading audio content across our platforms and titles.
The New Statesman produces a number of podcasts serving a large, loyal audience interested in politics, ideas and the forces shaping the world.
We work with high-profile guest presenters and contributors to produce thought-provoking audio which represents the best of the New Statesman's journalism.
Main Responsibilities
You'll be the main producer on The New Statesman podcast and subsidiary shows, creating and publishing multiple episodes every week.
Duties will include:
- Working with journalists to plan episodes, book guests and script episodes
- Producing recordings inperson using our broadcast studio, and using remote recording software
- Working with video producer to ensure podcast video is captured in high quality
- Coaching talent on presentation techniques
- Editing episodes using Descript and Adobe Audition
- Writing show notes and publishing to podcast platforms and our website
- Working with publishing assistant to deliver episode transcripts
- Producing commercial content including hostread ads and partner episodes
- Working with commercial teams to inform pitches and proposals where necessary
About You
You're a proficient journalist with strong storytelling skills, an ear for great tape, and a showreel that demonstrates a commitment to the highest production standards.
- 23 years producing podcasts or radio talk shows
- Professional understanding of politics, news and current affairs
- Knowledge of broadcast audio recording best practices
- Advanced audio editing skills using Audition and Descript
- Track record of using audience analytics to make informed content decisions
- Experience working with high profile talent and respected journalists
- Strong grasp of UK media law
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
- Highly organised and selfmotivated
- Experience publishing to podcast platforms and CMS
