Permanent role working for a global automotive design, engineering and manufacturing company.


A Process Engineer is required with knowledge of engineering solutions, ensuring products are to the required quality, improve production line efficiency, lead in new product introductions including product / process maturation.


Due to expansion workload this Birmingham based client requires a dynamic, leading Automotive Process Engineer on a permanent basis to add to a well established team.

As a Process Engineer, you will be required to:

  • To make improvements to process robustness
  • Improve cycle times and manufacturing cost analysis.
  • Technical engineering activities with the customers, suppliers and internal engineering departments
  • Ensure the correct level of engineering support within the production outflow teams to effectively contribute to the team positively, ensuring corrective actions are robust and completed within agreed timescales.
  • To assist with achieving and maintaining IATF 16949 and other Quality/H&S/Environmental award initiatives.
  • Ensure housekeeping is maintained and monitored via the 5 S system.
  • Ensure that the company is aware of and kept abreast of all cost effective new and best of class technologies.
  • Work within all agreed budgets and implement cost and timing controls.
  • Offer engineering support in reaction to customers' complaints and issues.
  • Product Development & modification.
  • As required offer and maintain Engineering support on current production
  • Provide correct level of engineering support in the review and update of FMEAs Process Flows, Control Plans, Work Instructions, and other documents as of when required.
  • Lead and drive engineering continuous improvement activities in line with the agreed targets and budgets.
  • Adherence and control of the company "Product Change Control" procedure and activities.
  • Keep good documentation on: costs, project status and engineering activity, 'Lessons learnt'
  • Hands on support on New Project Developments
  • Ensure correct level of engineering support in the review and update of all FMEAs, Work Instructions, Gauge Instructions, Packing Instructions, and other documents in the Production Process Master files.
  • Create/review machine specifications involved with new product introduction.
  • Prepare factory and equipment for mass production
  • Support in the preparation of PPAP submissions for new and modified projects / products
The Process Engineer should have the following skills or experience:

  • Follow route cause of a problem to a permanent solution and the implementation of the solution.
  • Have good problemsolving skills, using tools such as 8D, Ishikawa, 5Y or similar.
  • Reporting and presentation skills using of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to internally management and employees as well as the customers
  • AutoCAD LT (drawing layouts and basic equipment) & Geometric Tolerancing (general understanding)
  • Hands on installation experience
  • Basic manual machining (drilling, milling, and turning)
  • CNC machining experience, Siemens Simatic or Fanuc or similar
  • Electrical knowledge
  • Robot manipulation (e.g. Kuka, ABB, Motoman)
  • Minitab proficient
  • Six Sigma statistical analytical method
  • Engineering Degree qualified, or HNC or HND depending on experience
  • Experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment. Experience should preferably be within the Automotive or Aeronautical industry.

  • Full time permanent contract
  • 37.5 hour working week with an early finish on Fridays
- £50,000 to £55,000 per annum
