Hawkins Steel produces structural steel to the harmonised standard which covers fabricated structural steelwork to BS EN 1090:
Execution Class 2.

Experienced fabricators work with mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium.

They work with precision and attention to detail, ensuring a top-class finish is achieved for all structural steel, mezzanines, feature staircases, architectural balustrades, handrails and balconies.

About the job

Reporting to Specialist Fabrication Supervisor


Location Unit 9a, Thorpe Way, Banbury, OX16 4SP - Hawkins 3 and site locations


Job type Full-time, permanent

Key Responsibilities

  • To ensure the steel workshop clean, tidy and organised at all times.
  • To ensure that equipment/products are stored neatly.
  • To support the manufacturing process with general labouring works.
  • To use small tools and equipment as required including powered machines.
  • To operate forklift truck in line with the company's safe operating procedures.
  • To prepare plates and materials ready for fabrication.
  • To adhere to all Health and Safety standards.
  • To provide general labouring on sites and live manufacturing facilities.
  • Any other duties as required by the Specialist Fabrication Supervisor and Steel Director.

Person specification
Experience and knowledge

  • Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Team player
  • Problem solving ability and positive attitude to drive continual improvements forward
  • Good timekeeping and reliability
  • Good knowledge of English and communication skills (GCSEs English
  • Level 1)
  • Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times
  • To be physically fit
  • Can demonstrate attention to detail and show initiative
  • To undertake any training as requested by the company

Advantageous but not essential

  • Labouring experience in a steel workshop
  • Experience in the operation of machineries
  • Forklift truck licence
  • OHC licence
  • Full, clean driving licence
