Job summary:
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the 1* Logistics Division area of NCHQ, Portsmouth.
A new, permanent, Band D position has been created to provide Project Management support for the through-life contract management of the Port Agency Services Contract.
This high value (c.£385M) Cat A contract provides a broad range of logistics, husbandry and port services to the Royal Navy and other MOD agencies to support global operations.
This vacancy is advertised at 37 hours per week.Job description:
The role of the Project Support Officer covers a diverse range of activities to support the delivery of the project's objectives.
The Project Support Officer enables the smooth running of the project by supporting the Project Manager through the operations of project management processes, and the co-ordination of the business management actions and activities on their behalf.
In addition, the Port Agency Contract Project Support Officer will be responsible to provide direct support to Ships Logistic Officers in the processing of Logistic Requests (LOGREQs), lead on invoice assurance activity, finance reporting, data analysis (user requirements) and will manage the projects communications and stakeholder engagement plan.
Engaging with industry and close liaison with MOD commercial and finance teams; and provide management continuity, in the absence of the Port Agency Contract Project Manager.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for project file management using robust version control. Organise key project meetings and provide secretariat support.
- Manage the projects communications and stakeholder engagement plan.
- Provide direct support to Ships Logistic Officers in the processing of Logistic Requests (LOGREQs).
- Assist with maintaining the stakeholder log for internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in maintaining project controls and in producing project reports.
- Assist with the monitor of project spend and contribute to the compilation of budgets.
- Assist with and maintain risk and issue logs, escalating as appropriate.
Person specification:
Experience
(Essential)
- Evidence of strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience of taking minutes from meetings and able to produce clear & accurate notes
- Competent in using MS Office tools; Microsoft Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word, MS Teams, Skype, and SharePoint
- PRINCE2 Foundation, APM Project Management Qualification, and / or Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) Foundation
- Working knowledge and understanding of operational maritime support delivery, preferably within RN or MOD logistics support services environment
- Financial Management
