Our client provides technology-enabled solutions and best-in-class advisory services across carbon and energy procurement, environmentalproducts, net zero offsetting, risk management and asset optimisation - enabling the transition to a low-carbon future.
The role
Our client has a strong presence in Europe already and is now looking to break into and develop the North American markets.
They are seeking a highly experienced Voluntary Carbon Business Development Lead with strong client connections (in North America) tojoin the team and make a real impact.
This is an exciting opportunity where you will establish and grow their North American business and drive strategic growth for the company.
Key responsibilities:
- Grow US client base for environmental products
- Work with and advise corporate clients on net zero and purchase of voluntary credits
- Identify and evaluate new carbon offset project opportunities
- Develop and maintain relationships with project developers, investors, and carbon offset buyers to identify potential offset opportunities
- Negotiate and execute carbon offset transactions aligned with company's sustainability goals
- Work with stakeholders to ensure all carbon offset projects are well structured and executed
- Keep abreast with industry developments and technologies to improve carbon offset origination processes
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry standards
Requirements:
- Existing network of corporate clients in the Americas that buy VCS with energy risk management requirements
- Strong knowledge of carbon offset protocols and standards such as the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and the Gold Standard
- Proven experience in carbon offset origination and structuring, with a focus on renewable energy, energy risk management or sustainable development projects
- Strong negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, finance, economics or related field
- Advanced degree in a related field such as MBA or CFA is a plus
