Oxford Nanopore's sequencing platform is the only technology that offers real-time analysis, in fully scalable formats from pocket to population scale, that can analyse native DNA or RNA and sequence any length of fragment to achieve short to ultra-longread lengths.
We are seeking a highly capable and motivated Senior Research Engineer to join the Chip Research team.
Reporting to the Associate Director for Biosensor Fabrication, the individual will be instrumental in developing and scaling up new methods for the wetassembly of our sequencing flowcells.
Duties and responsibilities will include:
- Creation and development of ideas for wet membrane assembly.
- Design, build and modification of custom apparatus.
- Planning, risk assessing, and carrying out experiments to measure the performance of assembly techniques.
- Technical problem solving.
- Mentoring junior engineers / scientists involved with the project.
- Regular reporting of progress to line management and stakeholder group.
A PhD or equivalent years of industrial experience in engineering, applied physics or other relevant field.
- Development and prototyping of inline processes
- Precision mechanical engineering, e.g. for part handling or process control
- Designing mechanised / automated solutions including the use of motion control systems
- Leading Technical projects
- Knowledge of engineering material selection and manufacturing techniques
- Experiment planning, trials and evaluation
- Strong communication skills
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary collaborative environment
