The Head of the Men's Service Line will be a senior member of the Health & Justice SeniorLeadership Team and will be managing services across four of our prisons: HMP's High Down, Aylesbury, Coldingley and Woodhill.


Due to the current post holder being promoted to the Head of Nursing, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced leader who will be a clinician with the skills and passion to further develop healthcare for men who are in prison.


Good working relationships will be established with stakeholders and partners as well as colleagues in other directorates within the Division.

The post holder will also draw upon support and joint-working with colleagues in the Trusts corporate departments (e.g. Nursing, Human Resources, Finance, Risk Management, Estates and Facilities).


The Head of the Men's Service Line will work in partnership with the Service Director, Clinical Director, Head of Nursing and on business planning and service development leading to the continuous improvement of services.

This is a critical role requiring mobile working across the locations both in and outside London.


In return, you will be joining a strong, friendly and highly performing Senior Management Team who will provide support, teamwork and cohesion for the new post holder.


  • The post holder is responsible for the safety, quality and efficiency of clinical services and will lead the planning and delivery of the service to achieve its operational performance standards and its financial obligations through effective leadership and service improvement.
  • The post holder is responsible for developing and implementing policies within clinical area and working collaboratively with service users and clinicians on proposed service developments.
  • The post holder has responsibility for the physical resources within the Service Lines and manages the budget on a day to day basis within the Trust's standing financial instructions. This will include the overall responsibility for all clinical/nonclinical contracts and clinical/nonclinical subcontracts for Health & Justice Services (H&J) within the service line.
  • The post holder will work with the Service & Clinical Directors to ensure that there is a clear strategic direction for these services, which is integrated within the overall strategic direction for H&J.
  • The post holder is a member of the H&J Senior Management Team, and as such will participate in the management of quality within own services as well as Mental Health services, and provide sound advice and guidance to the Service and Clinical Directors.
  • The post holder will have good working relationships with all commissioners, Governors and Local Authority Lead relationships Care within the services managed.
