Barnes Roffe Recruitment have an exciting opportunity for a Management Accountant to join one of their clients' based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire on a 12-15 month contract to cover maternity leave.

The Management Accountant plays a key role in ensuring the company can achieve its business objectives.

The holder of this position will ensure all performance and quality targets are achieved and reports directly to the Finance Controller.

This is a hybrid role and you will be required to go into the office 2 days per week.

What is the role?


Reporting to the Finance Controller, this is a varied role supporting with the management and cost accounting requirements for the business.


Responsibilities of this position include the supervision of sales ledger and credit control functions, the production and analysis of monthly management accounts and management information, payroll, attending management meetings and generally supportingall managers with financial matters.


Specific duties include:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts for all divisions within the UK to Trial Balance for review and analysis with Finance Controller.
  • Ensure all relevant Balance Sheet nominals are reconciled and supporting schedules (accruals, prepayments etc) are provided.
  • Maintaining and reconciling intercompany entries.
  • WIP calculation and processing within accounts system.
  • Full support for Finance Controller.


  • VAT returns

  • Oversee the preparation and filing in accordance with relevant quarter end dates.
  • CIS returns oversee the preparation, filing, issuing of certificates and payments in accordance with relevant monthly due dates.
  • Undertake ad hoc tasks as directed.
  • Review and enhancement of all current financial procedures and reporting.
  • Ensure yearend financial reporting files and all relevant supporting evidence are available for external accountants.
  • Liaise with external accountants.
  • Lead external year end audit and be main point of contact for any queries.
Process supplier / customer invoices within business accounting system

  • Hold a relevant professional qualification (ACCA/ACA or CIMA) or is part qualified.
  • Good working knowledge and delivery of accounting practice and procedure
  • To have a current knowledge of tax legislation and reliefs.
  • Good communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Highly organised
  • Knowledge of MS Dynamics would be beneficial
