255 Lichfield Road is an Independent Community Facing Rehabilitation and Recovery Unit which provides services for men and woman over the age of 18.

Service Users may be admitted Informally or detained under the Mental Health Act.

We aim to provide opportunities for our Service Users to practice independent living, by helping them build the skills and confidence needed to successfully live in the community.

The unit comprises of 28 beds and accommodation includes

  • Two 4bedded enhanced recovery and rehabilitation units for people who require a structured environment with intensive support to progress through their recovery pathway
  • 20 selfcontained apartments that enable residents to live independently, whilst having the safety of a therapeutic structure if needed
  • Each apartment has its own front door, a lounge and kitchenette, bedroom and a bathroom
  • 24hour support as required
  • Dedicated occupational therapy facility to promote independent living skills
  • Therapy and treatment areas, safe and private grounds and a family visiting room
  • Communal bistro and kitchen
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our Occupational Therapy team.


Values-led and resourceful, you will have previous experience of working in mental health, enjoy new and varied challenges, and have the confidence to take a proactive, creative approach to working with our service users.


You will have knowledge of the Occupational Therapy Process and a good understanding of the therapeutic value of being engaged in meaningful occupation.

A flexible attitude is key, as is the need for a person-centred and compassionate approach.


You will work with our service users to promote independence in daily living, maintain or increase function, promote good health, improve quality of life and encourage, resilience and self-reliance.

This will be achieved through helping service users to explore their strengths, skills and interests, identify goals and develop action plans to help them achieve the changes they want to make.

Occasional weekend/out of hours working will be required to facilitate day trips/seasonal activities


  • Have the ability and confidence to work autonomously and adapt quickly.
  • Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Have good time management skills and a team focussed approach, as you will work closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team.
  • Help to prepare, plan and facilitate both 1:1 and group interventions, under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist.
  • Observe and monitor the well-being of service users ensuring that any unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences are promptly referred to more senior staff and documented as appropriate.
  • Produce timely, accurate and effective clinical documentation to record your observations.
