Temporary Payroll & Pensions Officer (part time - 20 hours per week)

Salary - up to £27K pro rata

T2M Resourcing are recruiting a Payroll & Pensions Officer to start ASAP for this leading national company.

This role is offered initially as a 3-month temporary contract with the opportunity to become permanent for the right person.

Working part time, 20hours a week, ideally 5 hours a day, 4 days a week. We are seeking someone who is available to start immediately.


Reporting to the Finance Director, you will ensure the efficient running of the Payroll and Pensions for circa 130 employees across 3 Payrolls.


Duties will include:

Payroll:


  • Verifying the timesheet summary and preparing the payroll ensuring statutory and company requirements are met.
  • Prepare and send salary payments to employee's bank accounts.
  • Be responsible for processing electronic payslips
  • Prepare payments to HMRC for PAYE/NI.
  • Prepare cost allocation spreadsheet showing gross salary, employers NI and employers pension by department.
  • Prepare cost analysis journal for posting to Sage as well as any accrual for hourly paid staff.
  • Process yearend procedures P35 to HMRC and uploading P60s
  • Ensure HR records are updated and complete in respect of any changes to contracted conditions.
  • Implement and manage SSP/SMP benefits including statutory payments.

Pension Scheme management and administration

  • Ensure all newly eligible employees are notified as such and receive appropriate joining instructions.
  • Liaise with chosen pension providers and resolve employee queries.
  • Remit monthly return of employee and employer contributions to pension providers.
  • Prepare cost allocation spreadsheet monthly.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following:

  • Experience in a Payroll & Pensions role, ideally using Sage accounting and payroll software
  • Demonstrate attention to detail
  • A good understanding of MS packages including Excel spreadsheets
  • An understanding of online banking
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
This presents a great opportunity, hours of work are 20 hours per week, ideally across 4 days a week. Initially a temporary role, it could become permanent for the right person.
