The Association of University Administrators (AUA) is the professional association for university professionals.

For over 60 years, we have supported the professionalisation and advancement of higher education administration and management by connecting and developing HE professionals.

We help our members realise their potential as HE professionals by providing a range of opportunities to identify their development needs and achieve their career ambitions.

Overall purpose of the role


The Membership Coordinator plays a key role within a small, committed and ambitious team at the heart of UK HE.

This role is where an all-round membership professional will flourish, because you'll be getting involved in a wide range of membership activities.

With a 'hands-on' approach, you'll get great exposure to the senior leadership team and the Board of Trustees from the outset

You will support the AUA with membership services, events, communications and general office administration. This includes management of databases, responsibility for front line administration, event logistics and communications to members.


You will work with the team to grow the AUA membership and promote the AUA as a crucial part of the HE ecosystem.

Supported by the Membership and Marketing Manager, the Membership Coordinator will:


  • Use insight and analytics to track and report membership data.
  • Field enquiries from members, stakeholders and the general public.
  • Update the website and provide first line support to website users.
  • Support member platforms and the handling of membership data.
  • Finance administrative support such as creating and sending invoices, setting up direct debits, providing updates on budget allocations, and taking card payments.

With a passion for and a proven ability in membership, you will be comfortable delivering a first-class membership experience for our customers.

Your experience will include handling member and stakeholder relationships, reporting up to date and accurate data on membership numbers, and conducting market research with members - ensuring all of our members are having a positive experience throughout their membership journey with the AUA.


It will help if you are self-motivated, with good attention to detail, which ensures that our membership offer and services maintains the quality of our brand.

In addition, your interpersonal and communication skills will enable you to collaborate effectively, share knowledge and insights with colleagues, and develop relationships within HE organisations and with our members and stakeholders.
