Job Summary


You will be part of a key team in Blood Supply, using your specialist expertise, and learning new skills every day.


Your specialist knowledge will allow you to deliver practical and technical advice supporting the delivery of essential services, contributing to saving and improving patients' lives.

Main duties of the job
In this role you will deliver an equipment specialist service providing practical and technical advice on the operation and management of a range of equipment and procedures within Blood Supply Operations


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing your own workload and tracking progress / delivery of tasks often to tight deadlines as part of wider Technical and Scientific Development (TSD) delivery schedules and work with multiple departmental stakeholders on equipment matters
  • Developing and regularly delivering training for best practice operational techniques and equipment management procedures
  • Developing and supporting teams to perform the validation and implementation of new equipment and consumables
  • Collecting and interpreting complex data, performing equipment investigations, providing technical reports, identifying trends and managing interventions
  • Developing equipment life cycle schedules linked to the capital plan, mean time to failure, and distribution assets to minimize operational downtime.
You will provide regional cover with some national travel.

There is an expectation for you to be based within a regional operational site with some flexibility to work remotely.

You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice


About You

Experience and Knowledge

  • Expert understanding of specialist area e.g. equipment management in a regulated or accredited environment
  • Experience of working with quality standards in an environment governed by a range of policies and legislation
  • Good understanding of data protection legislation
  • Experience in the use of equipment in an operational environment including trending, meantime of failure, validations, advice and operational support
  • Experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint)

Qualifications and Training

  • Degree PLUS relevant experience (see Experience and Knowledge Section)
  • Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD)
