Job description:
To provide a high quality, accountable, patient centred service of rehabilitation for Neurological patients with high level speech, language, cognitive communication and swallowing impairments.
Person specification:
Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for independently providing expert clinical management of complex patients with neurologically based disorders of communication and/or swallowing providing impairment and functional based treatment.
- Negotiating with the patient to set realistic long and shortterm goals for treatment. Ensuring evaluation of goal attainment and modification of treatment programmes accordingly.
- To develop care protocols for specific clinical issues in conjunction with the line manager and members of the neurological rehabilitation team (NRT).
- To participate in regular clinical supervision, inservice training events, and external courses, as outlined in the Personal Development Review to reflect demands of the Health and Care Professions Council and Royal College of Speech and Language therapists.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
- MSc or evidence of post graduate training in related clinical area to masters level.
- Must have experience of working with patients with neurological conditions including traumatic brain injury
Memberships:
- Health and Care Professions Council registration.
- Membership of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
