  • We're currently looking to hire a Head of Quants and Structured Finance Analytics to join Legal and General Retirement (LGRI)
An exciting role where you'll Lead the quants and structured finance analytics team, which has two principal responsibilities:
(I) support the wider investments team through model/tool development that improve the scope, speed and flexibility of analytical tools; and (II) support and further develop the analytical toolkit available to analyse/survey structured finance transactions such as Mortgage and Loan securitisations

What you'll be doing

  • Lead the quant team that designs, implements, enhances, and supports a variety of analytical/modelling tools used by the Investments team and wider other LGRI stakeholders in order to support Investments' management of its portfolio and new investment opportunities
  • Drive financial and technological innovation and improved understanding of asset modelling and risk metrics through solution delivery, providing support and direction to the wider investments team and other stakeholders across LGRI on complex issues surrounding pricing, risk management and technological and mathematical solutions to support the investments team its oversight of LGRI's investment portfolio
  • In collaboration with the wider Mortgage, Housing and Risk Sharing team, drive forward the analytics and securitisation capabilities across mortgages, Collateralised Loan Obligations (CLOs) and risk sharing to improve the speed and accuracy of the assessment of new and existing investments
  • Introduce technology/software (e.g. Intex) to improve speed, accuracy and scope of modelling and to facilitate easier interaction with market participants
  • Collaborate with the Risk, Operations & Finance to ensure robust model control
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders across LGR Investments, Finance, Risk, L&G Retail, LGIM, and external asset managers (where applicable) to achieve best use of data and technology for investments activity
  • To take the lead in all matters with regard to the management of employees, ensuring that management discretion is used in a consistent manner and that the area follows the Group's policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement to maximise business performance

What we're looking for

  • Experience in front office or quant team of a bank or asset manager with focus on analytics
  • Strong knowledge of main technological/software solutions available for structured finance investments
  • Solid grasp of main programming languages (C++, Python)
  • Good understanding of Solvency II and Matching Adjustment requirements for UK pension providers is helpful but not essential for this role
  • Experience building complex, dynamic financial models to analyse debt investment opportunities in an underwriting, investment or credit rating capacity.
  • Practical understanding of various concepts in financial engineering e.g. stochastic calculus, risk neutral/martingale methods, derivative pricing, financial statistics / timeseries modelling, Monte Carlo simulation
  • Flexible, adaptable and able to demonstrate initiative.
  • Strong MS Excel skills, working knowledge of C++ beneficial
  • Undergrade university degree or equivalent in a quantitative discipline or equivalent or work experience (or experience in a similar role)
