This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has an excellent understanding of the built environment and would like to work in an area where you can make a real difference to people who are experiencing difficulties accessing their homes.

Accessible Homes and TEC Hub is multi-disciplinary team based in Homes and Landlord Services division of Bristol City Council. The team consists of Occupational Therapist, Occupational Therapy Aides, Caseworkers, TEC Assessors, Technicians and Surveyors. We work in social, owner-occupied, private rented sector housing and cover the whole City.


In your role as a Quality and Compliance Surveyor you will work closely with colleagues to oversee and monitor contractor performance on a range of works from carrying out repairs to installing new adaptations for example, level access showers and external works.


You will be inspecting works in at key stages as well as conducting spot checks ensuring the specification of works for the required adaptation is/are followed.


You will also ensure that standard and workmanship of these works in progress are satisfactory and where necessary alter/change specification if deemed necessary to the situation on site when inspecting these works.

Starting salary could be negotiable within the pay grade, dependant on experience.

In addition, you will

  • Have a strong customer focus
  • Have a demonstrable knowledge of installation and repairs to wet rooms.
  • Be able to work with contractors to identify cost effective solutions to remedy issues.
  • Prepare clear and accurate schedule of works to enable contractors to Complete new installations and repairs to adaptations.
  • Confident in representing the team in contractor review meetings to help evaluation of contractor performance against the contract terms & conditions.

This role may appeal to someone wishing to develop their skills and experience in the more specialist role of Adaptations Surveyor. We can provide training and support to help you progress.
