£22,000 - £30,000


The Design and Marketing Assistant/ Officer (maternity cover) will work within the Marketing department to provide support to the Head of Design and Marketing, and wider marketing function.

They will be proactively involved in all aspects of the marketing process, including content design and campaign delivery, and internal and external communications.

As well as design, this position entails both administrative and general support activity and involves liaising closely with colleagues, senior staff across the organisation and external stakeholders.

Key Tasks

  • To support the work of the Head of Design and Marketing in the timely delivery of all relevant marketing activities.
  • Design and production of creative, engaging and dynamic content across a variety of platforms.
  • Assisting with campaign development and execution.
  • Creation and delivery of social media content, in conjunction with Customer Communications teams.
  • Creation of driver briefing materials (print and intranet), and the maintenance of internal communications messaging.
  • Timely creation and production of timetables and other company literature, including print sourcing and administration.
  • Contributing to, and delivery of, national marketing activities. Role will also require collaboration with external transport companies and Local Authority partners.
  • Facilitating accurate and timely budget tracking, including raising relevant Purchase Orders and 'booking in' invoices.
  • Assisting with general press enquiries and external communications. This will include creation of local press releases, with the creation and distribution of key stakeholder press content.
  • Arranging and facilitating photoshoots.
  • Copywriting/proofreading for all corporate communications, internal and external.
  • Assisting with B2B development, including contributing towards creating engagement plans, event attendance, regular outreach and bespoke content to promote Corporate Travel Scheme to largescale local employers.
  • Assisting with the creation and nurturing of external partnerships, ensuring value and liaison on all campaign aspects.
  • Assisting with vehicle graphics design and vinyls, including special livery orders.
  • Timely execution of recruitment advertising.
  • Management of stock merchandise.
  • Active involvement in events planning, events attendance, and supplying other departments with relevant display/distribution materials.
  • Assisting with the reinforcement of positive brand perception, including assisting with charity / sponsorship requests.
  • Campaign analysis, marketing activity reporting.
  • Provide content for internal company magazine.
  • Any other reasonable duties delegated by the Head of Design and Marketing, Commercial Manager or Board of Directors.
Person specification


Minimum Skills/Qualifications:

  • A sound understanding of the role of marketing in a commercially focused organisation. This could be gained through a relevant marketing or design degree or similar qualification, or through relevant proven experience.
  • Proficiency with Graphics Design packages (particularly Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator)), with the ability to create dynamic and engaging content, which will appeal to various audiences.
  • Confident, outgoing nature, comfortable talking with and relating to all levels of the working environment.
  • Comfortable with, and be prepared to carry out, administrative tasks as part of role.
  • Strong command of the English language is required, including spelling and grammatical accuracy.
  • Comfortable in aspects of Microsoft Office 365 and experience of electronic communications are essential.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Selfstarter with high levels of motivation, enthusiasm and initiative.
  • Able to cope effectively with deadlines and multiple demands, and be comfortable working independently, or within a dedicated and enthusiastic team. Effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Good standard of personal presentation.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. However, this position does entail providing guidance to staff members and co-ordination with outside vendors.

Minimum Education Level

C grade or above in English and Maths G.C.S.E or an equivalent qualification.

Marketing CIM diploma or degree, or design related degree or qualification is preferred but not essential if a sound, theoretical grasp of marketing or design can be proven through relevant experience.

Prior experience within the transport industry would be advantageous but is not essential.

Other information

  • It would be beneficial, but not essential, for the employee to be in possession of a full, current driver's licence.
  • Must be prepared to work occasionally out of hours and at various locations throughout the North East.
  • Must be prepared to occasionally attend meetings and training courses at locations
