Main purpose of the role


As a Laundry Assistant you are a member of the team who is responsible for ensuring that a clean, well presented and well maintained supply of clothing for all residents and linen for the Home is available at all times.


About The Role

Main duties and responsibilities

  • To work as part of the laundry team, handling all incoming items to the laundry, and sort for treatments and washing temperatures in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • To wash, dry and iron all linen and clothing as appropriate and in accordance with labels.
  • To use equipment supplied with care and in accordance with suppliers' instructions and training.
  • To ensure all machines and equipment are in good working order and report any faults immediately. If any machine is felt to be dangerous, to withdraw it from service immediately.
  • To assist in keeping the environment clean, tidy and hazard free, e.g. cleaning of equipment and safe disposal of waste.
  • To ensure that dryers are kept free of dust/lint on a daily basis.
  • To advise on supplies i.e. washing detergents/chemicals required on a weekly basis, ensuring economic use of same.
  • To ensure that Company Policy on Infection Control is adhered to at all times with regard to soiled linen.
  • To ensure that Company Policy on Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) is adhered to at all times.
  • To take linen and clothes to store, or residents' rooms as required, hanging or placing residents' items neatly.
  • To ensure the laundry environment is kept clean, tidy and free from hazards in accordance with the cleaning schedule.
  • To keep records of any damage to items whilst in the laundry.
  • To report the condition of residents' clothing to enable replacements to be purchased as necessary.
  • Ensure equipment, chemicals and cleaning products are stored safely and securely, during and after use.

General Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for the health, safety and welfare of yourself and others whilst at work, including colleagues, residents and visitors to the Home and for alerting the officers responsible to any hazards or potential risks to health and safety.
  • To be fully conversant with the Beaumont policies relating to Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults and Whistleblowing.
  • To ensure compliance with the Beaumont Information Governance Policy, maintaining an appropriate level of confidentiality around issues that may be personal or commercially sensitive.
  • Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships both with colleagues, residents, visitors and other health professionals and agencies.
  • To act as an ambassador for the Beaumont company Vision and Values.
  • To promote equality and diversity at all times and across all work activities.
  • To adhere to Beaumont policies and procedures.
  • Attend mandatory training days / courses, on or off site, as and when required
  • To undertake any other duties and accountabilities which would be lawful, reasonable and appropriate to the role.
