With state-of-the-art, recently expanded facilities, we cut, prepare, pack and deliver award-winning fresh pork products locally, nationally and worldwide. As a result, we have been awarded many accreditations, including Red Tractor, RSPCA Assured, and BRCGS A Grade certification.

We have a rare opportunity to join the team in Eye as our new
Animal Welfare Officer.

In this key role you will be responsible for maintaining good animal welfare safety and hygiene standards throughout, from arrival to site through to kill.


You will ensure livestock requirements are met through due diligence in livestock monitoring, pre-requisite documentation checks, PPE and correct procedure policing.


A key part of this role is ensuring animal welfare standards are met, through internal and external audits and any other duties commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.


Animal welfare training will be given.


Areas of accountability:


  • Promote high standards of hygiene, good manufacturing practice and ensure departmental compliance to company hygiene, health safety requirements, quality systems, and industry / retailer standards
  • Assist with assurance audits and customer site visits, as required
  • Ensure the training and competence of staff is upheld and reviewed
  • Support and encourage the company welfare values and positive culture across the department
  • Promote good practice and compliance to all company policies, procedures and operating standards and to lead by example

Ideal skills and experience required:


  • Previous experience in a relevant role/environment
  • Selfmotivated and driven to perform at a high level
  • A farming background is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

What we can offer you:

- £28,840 salary

  • Hours: 6.15am4.15pm, Monday to Friday (45 hours), which includes two half hour unpaid breaks
