Job Purpose:

As a housekeeper you will be responsible for delivery of all domestic duties within the respite centre ensuring a clean, safe environment, working with infection control guidance.


Salary:
£9.50 per hour


Location: 49 Hope St, Motherwell

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our housekeeping team.


General:
PHEW Short Breaks Centre provides respite care for adults with a learning disability and associated physical disability. Staff members provide a warm, supportive atmosphere in which friendly, caring relationships are established with guests.

You would be expected at all times to acknowledge the personal dignity and individual rights of both guests and colleagues.

You would expected to become familiar with and adhere to Codes of Practice.


About this role:

  • Essential infection control work, you will maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the Respite Centre (working with other housekeepers).
  • Cleaning and polishing of lounges, bedrooms, corridors, common rooms, toilets and locker rooms, facility rooms, dining room, reception and offices.
  • Washing of guests clothes, bedlinen and towels, drying and ironing.
  • Carpet shampooing and 'spring cleaning' tasks
  • Use electrical equipment safely i.e. vacuum, washing machines, dryers, iron press and carpet cleaner.
  • To be aware of the usage and storage of materials and equipment and comply with COSHH requirements at all times.
  • To be aware of the hazards and work within a safe environment, taking into account your own safety and the safety of others.
  • To ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained and report any defects to Team Leader.
  • Restock toiletries, soaps, towels etc as and when required.
  • Distribution of meals from kitchen to guest units
  • Other domestic tasks as directed by Seniors and Management team.

Staff Development and Training:
Ongoing training and support will be given via e learning.


Working Relationships:


It is important that Housekeeping staff maintain good working relationships with other members of staff and, on occasion, with professionals in outside agencies.


Other:
Applicants must be self motivated and can work on own initiative. Experience is preferable but not essential.

Must be flexible in availability due to variable hours.
