University Hospital Lewisham is a busy Acute General Hospital of approx 500 beds situated in South East London, which serves a local population of about 300,000.

It is a teaching hospital of the Guy's, King's and St Thomas' School of Medicine with a first class reputation for undergraduate and postgraduate training.


Applications are invited for a Trust Clinical Fellow CT1/2 post in the ENT department at University Hospital Lewisham which is to commence on 2nd August until 5th December 2023.

Full participation in all of the educational activities taking place in the Trust is strongly encouraged and the post holder will be supervised and given study leave as other trainees in the Trust.


The appointee will be responsible for the provision of elective and emergency services at University Hospital, Lewisham, and outpatient services at University Hospital Lewisham in conjunction with colleagues.


You will be expected to work with local managers and professional colleagues in the efficient running of services and will share Consultant colleagues in the medical contribution to management.

Subject to the provisions of the Terms and Conditions of Service, you are expected to observe University Hospital Lewisham's agreed policies and procedures, drawn up in consultation with the profession on clinical matters, and to follow the standing orders and financial instructions of University Hospital Lewisham.

You will be expected to make sure that there are adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in the care of your patients to be able to contact you when necessary.

The department is responsible for providing an elective and emergency service from the inpatient base at University Hospital Lewisham. The directorate has one adult ward and children are nursed within the Children's Surgical ward. Operating time is split between main and children's theatres and the Day Surgical Unit.

University Hospital Lewisham has a separate Children's A& E department, and dedicated children's clinics are currently held in the Children's Out-patients.

The Clinical Director for Children's Health and her team are responsible for the staffing and management of the children's facilities.

Close liaison between the Directorate and the Paediatricians is essential to handle these shared services to plan future developments and the educational needs of staff.
