Casual Health Records Clerk Band 2


The Health Records Department provides a comprehensive service with a full range of general and acute specialties for Inpatients, Day cases and Outpatients, Medical Secretaries, Clinical Excellence, Audit programme.

Departments and areas of work - Health records and related services including libraries, filing and pulling notes, location and retrieval of notes not in the library, PAS inputs and outputs, access to healthcare records, X-rays, scanning, Digitizing

To provide the day to day operation of a high quality, effective and efficient Health Records Service.

This will involve timely, accurate and comprehensive computer input into the Patient Administrative System (PAS) to achieve efficient recording and process of patient activity.


Also to work effectively as a team to ensure all areas of the Health Records department are covered at all times to provide a 24/7 service.

To be a proactive member of the team to cover all areas of the department as required and requested by senior members of staff

  • Provide and maintain a secure system for the custody and production of confidential Healthcare Records for the care and treatment of patients including filing, locating, retrieving, preparing patients' records for admissions and clinics.
  • Provide a polite, professional and efficient service in all communications including telephone and face to face requests for information and all service users.
  • Maintain and update patient details on the PAS in accordance with Health Records, Data Protection and Public Records Acts.
  • Meet requests for information within dictated deadlines.
  • Handle patient's case notes during the course of their working day. Filing, pulling notes, lifting and moving notes, pushing loaded trolleys, climb steps.
  • Work as a flexible team member to ensure all areas within the department are staffed to maintain a seamless service for the customers, to ensure the department is covered 24/7 including weekends and bank holidays

Standard Check:
£18 + Administration cost of £3.85 = £21.85. Deducted at £6.85 from 1st month salary and £5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.


Enhanced Check:
£38 + administration cost of £3.90 = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.
