Purchased Production Materials Planner - 12 month Contract

Role Summary / Scope

  • To run and action MRP controlled purchase order processes using current ERP system (approx. 120 lines per week)
  • To communicate Open Purchase Order 'books' to selected Vendors
  • To manage (eg) weekly liaison with selected Vendors to:
  • Confirm all POs are received by Vendors
  • Update ERP system with any Due Date and Quantity changes advised by Vendors
  • Assess the impact of Due Date and Quantity changes and mitigate with Vendor where possible
  • To escalate/communicate Due Date and Quantity changes that cannot be mitigated
  • To provide timely (eg daily/weekly) updates to Purchasing Team and specifically Commodity Buyers
  • Approximately 1500 active SKUs through approx. 40 vendors
  • Key member of the small, busy Purchasing Team

Main Responsibilities

  • Run MRP reports at required frequency to identify Purchase requirements and convert these to Vendor Purchase Orders
  • Follow BWT defined expenditure authorisation and ensure all Purchase Orders are sent to Vendors in a timely manner
  • Run weekly Order Book review processes for reconciliation, update PO Lines accordingly and, through liaison within the Purchasing, Planning and Customer Service Teams, ensure that the impacts of any Purchase Order changes are understood and mitigated where possible
  • Daily liaison with suppliers and internal customers such as Sales; Planning; Stores; Quality; Engineering

Person Specification/Key Skills & Attributes/Education required

Must Have:

  • Experience in a multiSKU manufacturing environment using MRP system for purchased materials planning and procurement
  • Intermediate Excel skills eg comfortable creating pivottables / using vlookup
  • Analytical approach to crossfunctional problem solving and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Selfdisciplined approach to time management

Personality Profile:

  • Diligent with attention to detail
  • Ensures schedules of routine tasks are adhered to
  • Numerate and articulate

Desirable:

  • Experience of using MRP Planning system in order to analyse and understand impact of Purchase Order changes
  • It would help to be able to understand the basics of engineering drawings but this is not essential
