National Highways has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Administrator to join our hard-working project team delivering the A66 scheme within our Major Projects (MP) directorate in Manchester or Leeds.


The role will involve working closely with Project managers at all levels to support the delivery of a high-profile project.

You'll have opportunities to collaborate with stakeholders and customers across the country and demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills.


Within this role you will be required to carry out a range of administrative processes, providing flexible business support, to contribute to the delivery of business activities and objectives to time, quality and within budget.

You will be required to go that extra mile, be proactive and take pride in what you do to deliver accurate and efficient results.

This role will be based from our Manchester or Leeds office. Occasional travel to other office locations may be required.


What you'll be leading on:


  • Delivering a variety of administrative processes; ensuring accuracy and punctuality whilst adherence to defined procedures and standards.
  • Produce reports, presentations and other documents, collating and analysing relevant information and statistics from identified sources, to support others in the delivery of their business objectives.
  • Answering standard and nonstandard enquiries, acting as a point of contact internally and externally. Providing information to stakeholders to support delivery, customer service, and decision making. Escalating issues for resolution, as necessary.
  • Maintaining project records, customer correspondence, and governance documents. Entering information on systems and storing files to ensure that information is up to date, in the right place, and easily accessible.
  • Managing smaller pieces of work to completion, either standalone or as part of larger projects, to support achievement of business objectives.

To be successful you'll demonstrate:


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Experience in ensuring good quality, customer focused service delivery.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software including, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. (Experience with Project Management / CRM/Financial software desirable)
  • Strong time management and organisations skills. An ability to work under one's own initiative, prioritising tasks to meet competing deadlines.
  • Experience in a project environment (nonindustry specific) is preferred.
