Description

This is vital position in supporting those experiencing various difficulties in their lives to gain independence and a quality education.


You'll be working with children and young people who have a range of
complex needs such as
severe learning difficulties, autism and
associated challenging behaviours.


You will work closely with their
family,
social workers, and
health professionals.

You'll lead on creating and implementing plans that are developed to meet the unique needs of the individual and recognise that service users have their own hopes, dreams and aspirations.

We will be holding interviews with your availability, with start dates ideally being the 15th April.


This includes (but is not limited to) one to one support for young people who have:

  • Rehabilitation/support needs following life changing injury (post-operative or acquired brain injury)
  • Learning difficulties, autistic spectrum disorders (ASD) and challenging behaviour
  • Those with Communication difficulties (nonverbal)
  • Lack of social understanding
  • Physical disabilities and/or sensory impairment
  • Specialist health needs
  • Social, Emotional and Mental health needs (SEMH)

Key Responsibilities:


  • To play an active part of the key worker team providing specific 1:1 support for high need individuals.
  • To support the young person in areas of personal hygiene and intimate care procedures.
  • To implement care procedures as presented in the school handbook and accordance with Quality Standards.
  • To promote independence and choice to individuals and advocate on behalf of young people.
  • Ensuring all aspects of the young people's life is planned assessed and reviewed holistically and individual needs are met.
  • To ensure that the young person's care plan and placement plan is up to date and the children/ young adults are supported to contribute to this process.
  • To balance at all times the young person's actual age with their ability age.
  • To ensure that the young person's environment is clean, personalised and regularly reviewed for decoration. To complete any domestic duties as required.
  • To meet leisure and social needs by providing purposeful activities and organised time for play; community access and independent time. These may require a basic level of fitness e.g swimming/bike riding etc).
  • To work flexibly and cooperatively as part of the student support system.
  • To follow teacher and therapy guidance in school time.
  • 1:1 support in the education setting.
  • To follow child protection procedures as required and at all times.

Required Documentation & Experience

  • Right to work in the UK
  • A clear enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Employment references that speak to your affinity for high standards & quality of work.
  • Experience in either a paid or voluntary capacity working with children or adults in a care, education or residential setting.

£11.72-£12.52 per hour

Teaching Assistant: 1 year (preferred)
