The responsibilities for the Department for Science, Innovation & Technology for 2023 are as follows:

For 2023, our priorities are:

  • Optimise public R&D investment to support areas of relative UK strength and increase the level of private R&D to make our economy the most innovative in the world.
  • Promote a diverse research and innovation system that connects discovery to new companies, growth and jobs including by delivering worldclass physical and digital infrastructure (such as gigabit broadband), making the UK the best place to start and grow a technology business and developing and attracting top talent.

Job description:

The role sits within the Reporting and Risk Team in the central Portfolio Office.

The wider team is being constructed so you will join at an exciting time when we are designing and building our function and offer to the department.


You will be responsible for ensuring that teams across
DSIT are providing accurate and timely information about the management of risks and mitigations.

This will be at project, programme, Directorate, Group and Departmental levels. It will involve reporting using the department's reporting tools and preparing reports to go to the Executive Committee. It will also require building strong networks with our Partner Organisations to understand their risks which may impact
DSIT.


As this is a new department you will have the ability to shape new processes as well as the ability to change and improve existing processes.


Role responsibilities:

  • Ensuring monthly risk reports comply with the
    DSIT reporting and risk management frameworks.
  • Provide effective advice on risk and issue management to individual projects, directorates and partner organisations.
  • Maintain and build on the risk management policy to enable better and more complex analysis of risks across the department.
  • Analyse risk returns to identify trends and other relevant insight.
  • Undertake regular quantitative and qualitative risk analysis.
  • Ensure that risk reports are accurate and up to date.
  • Develop the Department's risk management capability through training and workshops.
  • Partner engagement building and maintaining relationships with risk leads across

Person specification:


Essential criteria

  • Experience in risk and issue management; the ability to systematically identify and supervise risks & issues, planning how to mitigate / respond and implementing the responses.
  • Partner engagement: the ability to construct positive partners
