Main duties of the job:


To support NHSE, HEE and the National Breast Screening Training Centres to shape the development of this role and support the strategic regional planning for future training and education initiatives for the NHSBSP.


To be a clinical expert in mammography and breast imaging and to work with staff in clinical practice to promote the acquisition of new skills and knowledge.


To be responsible for the clinical supervision and development of radiographic / associate and assistant practitioner' or learners in conjunction with the team's senior leadership.

To contribute to the development of clinical practice policies and evidence based practice as appropriate.

Act as client advocate in line with Trust core values

Education:

  • BSc in Radiography/Diploma of the College of Radiographers or equivalent
  • Current HCPC registration
  • Postgraduate award or Certificate of Competence in Mammography or appropriate experience

Desirable criteria:


  • Up to date CPD folder with relevant mammography evidence
  • Practice Educator qualification

Skills/Abilities:


Essential criteria:


  • Understanding of IR(ME)R
  • Be able to perform screening mammography within a specified time constraint
  • Organisational ability
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Accuracy
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team

  • Knowledge of breast disease and the NHS Breast Screening Programme

  • Significant postgraduate experience
  • Must be able to demonstrate CPD
  • Must be able to demonstrate understanding & knowledge of current techniques and equipment
  • Able to rapidly assess and respond to client personality
  • Ability to demonstrate Empathy
  • Be able to speak, receive and issue instructions in English concerning patients without risk of misunderstanding

  • Proof of extended radiographic roles
