Outreach Tutor – Redcar and Cleveland

Location: Redcar and Cleveland

Contract: Full-time or Part-time hours / Must be available Monday-Friday

Pay: Competitive hourly rate (PAYE)

Role Overview

New Chapter Tuition is seeking a dedicated and resilient Outreach Tutor to support children and young people across Redcar and Cleveland who are unable to access mainstream education. This role involves working 1:1 with learners with SEMH, ADHD, anxiety, and those at risk of exclusion, delivering personalised, trauma-informed tuition in community-based settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 outreach tuition to learners with SEMH, ADHD, anxiety, and complex needs
• Provide tuition in homes, libraries, learning hubs, or alternative provision settings across Redcar and Cleveland
• Plan and adapt sessions to meet individual academic, emotional, and behavioural needs
• Use flexible and creative approaches to re-engage learners who are disengaged from education
• Build positive, professional relationships with learners and families
• Monitor progress and provide clear feedback to parents/carers, schools, and professionals

Person Specification

Essential:

• Experience working with vulnerable, disengaged, or excluded learners
• Experience supporting learners with SEMH, ADHD, and/or anxiety
• Knowledge of the UK curriculum (primary or secondary)
• Calm, patient, and empathetic approach
• Strong communication skills
• Confidence working independently in community-based or alternative settings

Desirable:

• Teaching qualification or recognised tutoring experience
• Experience in outreach tuition, SEND, or alternative provision
• Knowledge of the local area
