The medicines management directorate at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Assistant Technical Officer to join the Patient Services team.

Our ATOs are valued members of the Pharmacy team and this new role will be developed further to support the Pharmacy staff working at ward level.

You will gain experience across a variety of specialties, working closely with Technicians and Pharmacists to deliver high quality, patient focused medicines management services.

Working both as part of a team, independently and using your own initiative is essential for this role.


You must possess excellent communications and organizational skills, be self motivated and willing to develop with new ways of working.

Attention to detail and being able to work well under pressure are also essential.


The main duties will encompass:


  • Assembling and dispensing inpatient, outpatient and take home medication and processing controlled drug requisitions, following standard dispensary operating procedures.
  • Dealing with routine enquires
  • Participation in the ward based medicines management service following a period of accreditation.
  • Supporting Pharmacy logistics in providing a safe, effective and efficient pharmacy purchasing and distribution services.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
