Description
A stay in hospital can be very unsettling and can take people time to adjust back into home life.

This role is to support people upon their discharge from hospital to ensure they feel safe and comfortable back in their homes and to assist them with short term visits to regain their independence.


Main duties may include:

  • Shopping
  • Light housework
  • Ensuring the clients property is safe and warm.
  • Assisting to get clients to appointments.
  • Encouraging client's independence
  • Befriending
  • Feeding back to the coordinator after each visit
  • Assessing clients for any changes that are of concern and reporting back.
Volunteers will not need to provide any personal or medical care.


Supervision and support:


Induction:
you will receive training, and an induction

While in role:

As part of your volunteer supervisions, your staff contact will check-in on how you're finding the role and give you the opportunity to flag any additional training or support you feel you need.


Optional:
you can attend network meetings with other Volunteer to learn from and share best practice.

  • Are prepared to complete any necessary initial and ongoing learning and attend future support meetings.

What is required of me?

  • Our volunteers need to have a patient and understanding attitude
  • We welcome volunteers for as much or as little as you are comfortable with
  • Don't worry if you are not well or are on holiday, we can always arrange cover for you.
  • We will arrange for a DBS check prior to you undertaking any visits
