Household Waste Recycling Officer - Hespin Wood/Home Working (Travel will be required regularly throughout Cumbria and a work van will be provided)

Salary:
£28,834.80 per annum


37.5 hours per week - Mon-Fri (Flexibility is needed between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00)

On Call 1 in 3 weekends (Telephone Cover Only)

Under the 25 year PPP contract with the Local Waste Authority, Renewi has responsibility for managing 14 Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC).

The day to day operation of the HWRC's is sub contracted to our Sub Contractor while Renewi have direct responsibility for maintenance of the site infrastructure.

The role of the HWRC officer is to ensure compliance with Renewi's contractual obligations in relation to the management of the sites.

The role will involve extensive regular travel throughout Cumbria to visit the HWRC sites although you will be based at our Hespin Wood offices in Carlisle as well as working from home.


Your key responsibilities:


  • Visit 14 HWRC sites to carry out weekly inspections of Contractor Operational Compliance with the Output Specification and Service Delivery Plans.
  • Identify, report and record Performance Failures in accordance with Contractual procedures, followed by investigating and resolving the underlying issues by working closely with the Sub-Contractor.
  • Carry out regular onsite Health and Safety Inspections and liaise with subcontractors and company SHEQ department to close out actions identified.
  • Manage the planned maintenance programme and arrange for reactive repair and maintenance of site infrastructure and plant in accordance with the Asset Management Plan and procure and supervise subcontractors and suppliers carrying out maintenance and repair works ensuring compliance with Health & Safety standards.
  • Ensure that all data records and reporting logs are maintained and updated in accordance with Operating Procedures.
  • Ensure all contractual notifications on day to day issues are made to the Authority in accordance with the Service Delivery Plans
  • Liaise with Local Authority Officers in providing feedback for Local Authority compliance inspections and reports and operational issues.
  • Liaise with the Communications Officer in the investigation of complaints and service issues.
  • Assist the Sub Contracts Manager with the production of monthly and annual reports and reviews as required.
  • Assist in the review and update of Service Delivery Plans for both HWRC Sub-Contract and Project Agreement
  • Monitor expenditure against budgets and assist with production of Annual budget.

  • Working knowledge of Waste Industry regulations or similar regulatory environment
  • Experience of working within a PPI, PPP or other SLA based contractual environment.
  • Management of contractors and supervision of maintenance and civil engineering works
  • Project Management of small to medium construction projects or maintenance projects
  • Effective verbal and written communicator at all levels
  • High level of proficiency in Word and Excel
  • Highly self organised and able to work unsupervised
  • Accustomed to meeting deadlines and working to the highest standards
  • IOSH or other Health & Safety qualification
