Based at our Transformer facility in the heart of Stafford, UK - This Global Sourcing Leader role is a great fit for somebody with deep domain expertise within the Power & Renewables sector, ideally Power Transformers or Rotating Machines background, with multi-year experience in Sourcing transformation, supplier development, commodity management, supplier relationship, management acumen, leadership skills and project management.

The Global Sourcing Leader will own the sourcing operations for the site as well as defining and implementing the sourcing strategy of a group of core / critical commodities


You'll lead a dynamic and growing team of Commodity managers, working in harmony to the business needs in delivering a service that returns outstanding results in-line with SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost).


You will be a highly motivated, self-driven leader with an acumen for managing sensitive relationships (internal/external), astute negotiator, and an effective communicator with internal stakeholders, senior leadership, and suppliers.


Key Responsibilities:


The Global Sourcing Leader will be responsible for:

  • Lead the Sourcing vision, operations and commodity strategies in alignment with Grid Solutions HVDC Transformer Business.
  • Drive and deliver on key project sourcing imperatives for our company and our customers; enable winning new deals, generate project's margin expansion; improve cash and execute on time.
  • Using your network to develop and integrate new sources where applicable and in line with business growth plans and quality parameters.
  • Innovate and optimize Sourcing processes through datadriven insights, setting benchmarks and metrics that support costsaving and business growth strategies.
  • Develop and execute Sourcing strategies that deliver both immediate and longterm benefits to the company.
  • Proactively uncover opportunities for efficiencies and cost savings through data analysis and building strong stakeholder engagement, that then translate into strategic sourcing activities.
  • Coordinate project needs across the supply chain whilst in parallel partner with all internal stakeholders including Engineering, Planning, Quality, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Sustainability, Finance and Leadership
  • Work in partnership with Global Commodity teams for Electrical Steel, Copper, Oil requirements.
  • Maintain and enhance supplier relationships to ensure alignment with our strategic goals and deliver outstanding service quality.
  • Comprehend sourcing risks, perform risk assessments of supply base and formulates mitigation strategies to address a very volatile and inflationary environment.
  • Mitigate risks to supply continuity and take proactive measures to minimize the impact on production (Supplier Capacity, Dual Sourcing...)
  • Collaborate effectively across departments to ensure compliance with Sourcing standards and integration of best practices.

Desired Profile & Experience:


  • Demonstrable extensive experience as a senior Sourcing and Supply Chain Leader with a exceptional focus on large scale projects, commodity, and team management.
  • Experience in Power Transformers or Rotating Machines is advantageous.
  • Expertise in driving supply chain / operational improvement.
  • Proven ability to think strategically and build exceptional stakeholder relationships.
  • Proactive, influential, and commercially astute.
  • Confidently deliver change and transformation where needed.
  • Dynamic, Inspiring with a flexible approach of thinking.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Deep understanding of contractual terms and conditions to effectively mitigate legal and commercial risks.
  • Highly resilient, with a proactive problemsolving attitude and excellent analytical capabilities.
  • An inquisitive and analytical mindset, capable of manipulating data to uncover opportunities.
