This role is hybrid working with the need to be in offices based in Croydon

1 to 2 times per week. There is a possibility that this

may be reduced to once per fortnight however this has not yet been confirmed.

In order to be considered for this post, you


MUST:

- be an experienced Housing Reviews Officer
- have recent experience in undertaking s202 homelessness reviews
- have a high level of legislative knowledge
- have the ability to construct complex arguments
- have excellent writing skills as you will be required to draft decisions capable of judicial scrutiny


Role Purpose
Responsible for fulfilling the council's statutory function under s202 Housing Act 1996 Part VII i.e. reviewing negative homelessness decisions and suitability of offers when requested by applicants/their representatives


Duties:


  • Managing an individual caseload of homelessness/suitability reviews in accordance with Part VII Housing Act 1996 (as amended), ensuring all internal and statutory deadlines are met.
  • Investigating cases and issuing decisions in relation to the various homelessness duties associated in particular with ss188, 193 and 202 within the relevant timeframes.
  • Ensuring additional internal deadlines are met with regard to the management of the review process, e.g. timely dispatch of file copies; follow up of submissions and Regulation 8 letters and liaison with the council's solicitors in relation to court proceedings.
  • Responding to members enquiries and other correspondence within specified performance timescales.
  • To cover any other duties as may be required.
