Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised person with the ability to take on the role of PA to the POONS Team.

We are a team of specialist nurses caring for children with Cancer and Leukaemia in the community.

The POON Administrator provides a link between the Trust, the patient and other health and social care professionals. You will provide a comprehensive, efficient and responsive administration service.


You will be flexible and conscientious with the ability to liaise with staff of all levels throughout the Trust, as well as parents/guardians/multi professional health and social care colleagues dealing effectively and efficiently with telephone enquiries.

You will have the ability to work on your own initiative, prioritising your work and meeting deadlines whilst maintaining high standards.


You will be required to provide a comprehensive administrative service for the Paediatric Oncology Outreach Team in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.

The minimum requirements are GCSEs, Grade C inc English, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience. You will also have excellent verbal and written communication skills in addition to a clear understanding of patient confidentiality.

You must possess a good working knowledge of IT packages and the ability to work across a mixed skill team.

  • Working in conjunction with the POON team to ensure that the administrative tasks are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Deal with telephone enquiries from children and young people and their key workers to facilitate the efficient and timely provision of support this service is designed to offer.
  • Ensure all correspondence is dealt with, by reading, assessing, prioritising and taking any necessary action on behalf of the team, escalating as required. Scan all correspondence into EDMS when completed and shred remaining paperwork at an agreed end point.
  • Liaison with other departments in the Children's Hospital and external agencies re. scheduling of meetings, education sessions and appointments as necessary.
