Deputy Service Manager - Crisis Mental Health

LOCATIONS:
Southwark


SALARY:
£16.32 per hour inclusive of holiday (£ per year)


DURATION:
Temp to Perm


HOURS: 37.5 hours per week


Management Daily Duties

  • Provide supervision, guidance and support to direct reports to help them to carry out their roles effectively to deliver a safe, welcoming and quality support service.
  • Ensure that the service is delivered in accordance with relevant legislation and policies
  • Responsible for the recruitment, selection, retention and induction of new staff.
  • Ensuring new starters are inducted fully and that appropriate training, supervisions and appraisals take place within appropriate timescales
  • Ensure the service takes advantage of all relevant networking opportunities and is involved in local and national initiatives that will enhance the service
  • Be prepared to challenge practices and attitudes within your service that do not meet expectations and requirements of the chosen PIE
  • Actively evaluate and manage staff performance against agreed outcomes. Ensure that contract performance is accurately reported internally within the organisation and externally to Commissioners
  • Manage and monitor the work within the service, ensuring that specific targets are met, and line management is kept informed where appropriate

Support / Other Duties

  • Overall responsibility for the safe delivery and future development of the Southwark crisis café
  • Support individuals experiencing mental distress in an empathic, professional manner. Empowering them to exercise choice and control, offering a personcentred service led by the wishes of the individuals you are working with
  • Ensure that people stay safe, and risk is managed and escalated appropriately to emergency and crisis services
  • Take part in professional meetings and reviews concerning those using the service and ensuring their best interests are prioritised.
  • Extend the range of community opportunities for those using the service by supporting community resources to improve accessibility and tackling mental health stigma
  • Support the maintenance of a database of community resources to identify and access a range of opportunities to promote wellbeing and independence
  • Maintain appropriate links with individuals' mental health workers and other professionals and organisations involved in their care
  • Be an expert navigator of local communities, continually building and sustaining relationships and partnerships with agencies and professionals, promoting the service, sharing recovery principles and Trauma-Informed approach, and support individuals toaccess support as appropriate
  • Ability to review a case from a variety of perspectives and give direct reports guidance and support where necessary.
  • Ensure the teamwork within set targets and manage time effectively
  • Responsible for the delivery of monthly and quarterly contract performance targets
  • Produce commissioner contract reporting and internal service reporting
  • Contribute to the aims and continuous improvement of the service, including the commitment to delivering within a Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) framework
  • Share knowledge, skills, and experience within the team, while observing confidentiality, and participate in team meetings, formulation meetings and reflective practice groups
  • Make a positive contribution to and work constructively within the team, including developing your own abilities to enhance team performance
  • Carry out staff supervisions and monitor the performance of team members, including relief staff, in a constructive, effective, and creative way.
  • Contribute to the provision of outcome defined evidence to commissioners and other stakeholders, by fully involving service users and team members.
  • Promote, monitor and maintain health and safety and security in the workplace and ensure the building in safe and secure.

Essential requirements

  • DBS within the last 12 months (must have original copy)
  • Previous management / team leader experience
  • Demonstrable experience supporting those with complex mental health conditions
