SURGICAL INSTRUMENT MAKER (Metal Work - Manufacturing)
Hours:
39.5 hours per week (Monday - Friday)
Mon-Thur: 7:30am - 16:45pm
Fri: 7:30am - 12:00pm
(EARLY FINISH)
NO WEEKENDS

JOB ROLE
A practical, hands on role, working in a busy team. You will be
hand making high quality surgical instruments used in Hospital Operating Theatres.
A traditional engineering position which involves the use of hand tools (e.g. hammers, files, drills and other associated metal working tools).
Experience in metal work (i.e. cutlery / knife making, or other products made from stainless steel) is required.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Making Hand Made Surgical Instruments.
- Fitting / Assembly (Bench fitting, including hand filing and fitting).
- Other manufacturing operations (such as grinding, drilling, bead blasting).
- Glazing / Linishing (working on machines with abrasive belts, working on polishing wheels and grinding wheels).
SKILLS REQUIRED:
Good Hand Eye Coordination
Ability to stay focused, good concentration and perseverance skills
Ability to pay attention to detail and work to tolerances (+/- 0.25mm)
Ability to retain verbal and written information
QUALIFICATIONS:
GCSE English - Minimum Grade C or Equivalent
GCSE Maths - Minimum Grade C or Equivalent

Desire to work within Engineering / Manufacturing
Enjoy working with your hands to create a hand-crafted product
Must take pride in your work
Willingness to learn
Ability to work within a team, and use own initiative
