About the team we are recruiting to

We value diverse perspectives and experiences and are striving to create a workplace culture that is inclusive, is accepting of all and is free from discrimination and bias.

We have a simple vision and strategy that defines what we are trying to achieve, our purpose and our approach which underpin the principles of Adult Social Care, and we continue to work in support of this.

In a simple sense all our work, at whatever level should continue to support the strategy of: 'Providing support, in the least intrusive manner possible, based on the assets, resources and abilities that are available to people'.

What is the job role?

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Adult Social Care Commissioning, the role is based within a multi-disciplinary team comprising of Council Social Care and NHS nursing colleagues as a Contract Officer.

When you join our team, you'll be working alongside people who are passionate about what they do and determined to make a difference.

The team you will be joining prides itself on delivering high-quality planning, commissioning, performance management, and improvement processes to drive change, innovation, and excellence in social care commissioning in line with national and local priorities.

We commit to our colleagues and provide a wide range of learning and development opportunities as well as a supportive and collaborative working environment in which people can thrive.

In return, we simply ask that you share in our commitment to the Citizens of Coventry.

This is a dynamic position, and you will be expected to multitask, highlighting opportunities and risks, and building relationships with providers across the city.

It will include regular communication with health and social care professionals and care providers, as well as recording, monitoring, and reporting accurate placement and provider information on an ongoing basis.

You will develop the skills and knowledge to support the four Commissioning Managers as pressures arise across older people, mental health, learning disabilities and community services commissioning.

Who are we looking for?

Whether or not you've worked in health and social care before, we're looking for someone with potential, enthusiasm, and passion for driving up quality and helping us deliver the best possible services for citizens in Coventry.

We are passionate about strengths-based, person-centred provision and supporting Coventry residents to live fulfilling lives as independently as possible. We value all members of our community and expect staff to be completely committed to this too.

You will be adept at working as part of a team, but will also work independently conducting quality review visits, so initiative, good judgement and an ability to identify and manage risks are essential.

You will need good analytical skills and experience using Microsoft packages, and be keen to develop knowledge around quality assurance, social care provision and the needs of our citizens.

You will be an excellent communicator and good at building and maintaining strong, professional relationships with a range of social care and health professionals and providers.

With support, you will be confident in tactfully handling difficult situations and conversations. This role involves regular travel around the city.
