Role purpose

The role holder is responsible for the Cash & Banking processes and tasks, and provides guidance, instruction, direction, and leadership to the Cash & Banking assistants for the purpose of ensuring compliance with banking policies and procedures related to risk avoidance and the accuracy of accountancy treatment.

This is a 12 month FTC

Key accountabilities:

Takes full responsibility of the cash & banking tasks and processes
Proactive capacity planning for the period ahead including making arrangements to cover any annual leave within the team.
Supervises and operates daily activity, in accordance with the demand and the calendar of tasks and events as synchronised with the NCC accounting calendar.
Reviews historical performance vs metrics, creates and deploys remediation plans to improve performance
Ensures inward transactions and outbound transfers are processed within agreed targets and SLA's
Avoids risk of unauthorized, inaccurate, or duplicate payments and financial loss.
Develops and mentors the team and prepares a successor.
Works closely with the Credit Control, Accounts Payable and Accountancy departments.
Partners with the NCC Treasury team on all matters, such as Banking Partner relationships, forecasting and governance.
Implements new cash & Banking processes and promotes continuous improvement initiatives, ensures the function deploys industry best practices and operates optimally.
Adheres to controls, segregation of duties and the delegation of authority workflow rules.
Works collaboratively with the internal compliance team and is transparent and works to put in place improvement if identified.
Tracks performance each day and takes appropriate action if required to ensure performance metrics are achieved.
Avoids the buildup of unposted transactions and performs regular reconciliations in accordance with policy.
Safeguards NCC by controlling access devices, rights, and privileges. Takes immediate action where necessary.

Desirable Functional and technical skills:

Experience with or ready to stepup to managing a midsized Cash & Banking function.
Successfully managed or provided direction to a team of accounting process professionals
Has operated professionally in an organisation that has formalized compliance policies and an entrenched delegated authority workflow.
