The Role


Sheffield Forgemasters is an iconic heavy engineering company which is capable of producing the largest and most technically challenging cast and forged steel components in the world from its manufacturing facilities in Sheffield.


In 2021 the business was acquired by the UK Ministry of Defence which secured its role as a critical supplier to the next generation of UK defence programmes, and is currently embarking upon a substantial recapitalisation project to modernise its plant and equipment over the next 10 years.

Sheffield Forgemasters is currently looking for a Finance Business Partner - Recapitalisation.


As a Finance Business Partner - Recapitalisation, have ownership of managing, control and governance of the investment from the MOD whilst leading in analysing and reporting on the capital programme.

You will be responsible for Timely, relevant and accurate reporting for the programme, decision support information and modelling and working with the Recap team to ensure that planning is accurate and that the team take ownership for outputs.


The main duties include:


  • Lead in the construction of month end for the Project, linking in with Central finance to ensure all relevant costs are captured correctly.
  • Lead in the production of monthly board report which is discussed with the CFO and ReCap Board
  • Own the process for the production and version control of the regular reforecasts that are required by the MOD for their own reporting requirements.
  • Ensure our DOA policy is adhered to and Purchase Orders placed on the programme have sufficient cover and approval to pay our liabilities on time.
  • Own the inputs for the weekly Liquidity meeting which feeds our ability to drawdown from the MOD on their investment.
  • Ensure future Fx requirements for the programme adhere to the Forgemasters Hedging policy
  • Support Head of ReCap Finance with Business wide CapEx monitoring as required
  • Support with Ad-Hoc MOD requests
  • Assist and advise the programme on any financial information required for Tender Submissions
  • Sense check, challenge and test robustness of financial information provided by suppliers or proposed by the project team for Board Packs/Signoff requests.
  • CIMA/ACCA or equivalent/training toward
  • Advanced excel (power user) and MS Office
  • Management reporting competency
  • Diligent, strong communication skills
  • High team work ethic
  • Willingness to change and adapt processes
  • Driven and motivated with the ability to self manage time and tasks
  • Previous Business Partnering Experience advantageous
  • Multiple stakeholder management experience advantageous (Internal & External)

Days/Hours of Work:


Office hours equating to 37.5 hrs per week - 07:4- 16:00 - Flexibility around start times, core hours 09:30 - 14:30.
